FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Black Hills State University women's rodeo team secured their fourth title of the 2024-25 season on Saturday as the Yellow Jackets tallied 360 points at the Triton Stmpede hosted by Iowa Central Community College. Leading the way for BHSU was
Raylee Fagerhaug who tied for first in goat tying, while
Sierra Steele added a third place finish in barrel racing. On the men's side Black Hills State did not record a team score, however
Swade Reis added a pair of top-10 finishes during the weekend in steer wrestling and team roping.
HOW IT HAPPENED - MEN'S RODEO
- Swade Reis recorded a tenth place finish in steer wrestling, posting a time of 15.2 on a long go run.
- Reis also added a tenth place finish in team roping as he paired up with Colton Michalek of Mitchell Technical College, recording a time of 15.1 on the long go.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S RODEO
- Kenzie Homelvig picked up ten points in goat tying and 20 points in breakaway roping for a total of 30 and a third place finish in the women's all-around competition.
- Highlighting a trio of Yellow Jackets in the goat tying event was Raylee Fagerhaug, who tied for first with a time of 14.0 seconds as she notched times of 6.9 seconds on the long go and 7.1 seconds on the short go. Cashae McGee was just one tenth of a second behind with a time of 14.1 seconds in fourth place, clocking times of 7.3 seconds on the long go and 6.8 seconds on the short go. Rounding out the group was Homelvig who was ninth after a time of 17.0 seconds with marks of 7.2 seconds on the long go and 9.8 seconds on the short go.
- Breakaway roping had yet another trio of Black Hills State athletes place in the event. Homelvig led the way as she notched a time of 17.0 seconds, clocking times of 3.5 seconds on the long go and 13.5 seconds on the short go for sixth place. Additionally, Emma Ohm was seventh with a time of 2.6 seconds on the long go and Briley Anderson was 11th with a time of 3.7 seconds on the long go.
- Leading a quartet of BHSU athletes in barrel racing was Sierra Steele who finished third with a time of 29.32 seconds, notching times of 14.77 seconds on the long go and 14.55 seconds on the short go. Tessa Caspers was fourth in the event, just one tenth of a second behind Steele, as she clocked a time of 29.33 seconds with times of 14.76 on the long go and 14.57 seconds on the short go. Additionally, Briley Anderson added a tenth place finish with a time of 34.67 seconds while posting times of 14.76 seconds on the long go and 19.91 seconds on the short go, and Capri Cammack was 11th place with a time of 35.31 seconds with times of 14.75 seconds on the long go and 20.56 seconds on the short go.

Black Hills State will conclude the fall portion of their 2024-25 schedule in two weeks when they travel up north once again as they compete at the Mystics Stampede Rodeo, hosted by Bismarck State College. The action will get underway on Friday, October 18, at 5 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. at Dale Pahlke Arena in Mandan, North Dakota.
