SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's and women's track & field teams have announced their 2024-25 indoor schedule on Tuesday afternoon as director of track & field and cross country,
Brian Medigovich, and head track & field coach, Alex Kemp, are set to have the teams compete at as many as ten meets this year, including the RMAC Championships and potential NCAA Championships. The slate is highlighted by a pair of home events in Spearfish as the Yellow Jackets will once again host the Dave Little Alumni Mile Meet and the Myrle Hanson Open inside the Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse.
The indoor season will begin with a lone meet in the month of December when the Black Hills State teams travel to Chadron State to compete on December 7 to begin the season. After more than a month off the Yellow Jackets will then host meets on back-to-back weekends with the Dave Little Alumni Mile Meet on January 18, followed by the Myrle Hanson Open on January 25, with both to be held in the Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse.
The ensuing weekend will be the first 2-day meet of the year when BHSU travels to Brookings, South Dakota, to compete at the SDSU Open on January 31 and February 1. The lone split weekend of the indoor season on February 8 will feature one group making the venture to the east coast and competing at the Bruce Lehan Scarlet and White Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts, hosted by Boston University, while the remaining athletes will compete at a meet hosted by Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. A second trip to Brookings, South Dakota, and Chadron, Nebraska, will mark the end of regular season competition as the SDSU Indoor Classic is set for February 14 and 15, while the Eagles will host again on February 22.
Postseason championships are slated to begin at the end of February as the RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by UCCS, will take place on February 28 and March 1. Individuals who then hit qualifying marks throughout the year and are selected by the NCAA, will receive the opportunity to travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, to compete at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, which are hosted by the University of Indianapolis on March 13-15.
