HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a kill by Jaeda Davis-Golliher gave Black Hills State the first point of the match and led to an early 2-1 advantage, CSU Pueblo took control of the opening set with an 8-2 scoring run to gain a 9-4 lead. A kill by Abigail Renner sparked a Yellow Jacket response with five unanswered points to even the score at nine apiece. CSUP, however, would use a 6-2 run to regain the lead at 15-11 before the teams began going back-and-forth midway through the set. BHSU would crawl back within two points (20-18) after kills by Davis-Golliher and Carsyn Mettler, but it would be as close as they would get as the ThunderWolves ended the frame on a 5-0 run to win 25-18 and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- After the teams traded the first five points of set two, Black Hills State evened the score at four apiece with a kill by Brooke Miller and a CSUP ball handling error. Following the tie, CSU Pueblo broke things open with a 7-1 scoring run to take an 11-5 advantage before a kill by Renner stalled the momentum. The Yellow Jackets were able to draw back within three points on five different occasions but never any closer as the ThunderWolves held them at bay and won the frame 25-19 to take a 2-0 match lead.
- CSU Pueblo grabbed the momentum out of the gates in set three as they jumped out to a 13-4 advantage. Black Hills State eventually started to see some momentum building midway through the frame with a 7-2 scoring run that was sparked by a kill by Mettler and ended with the Yellow Jackets drawing within a six-point margin (20-14). The ThunderWolves halted the run momentarily with three of the next four points. BHSU wouldn't go away quietly as a kill by Emily Freeland sparked a 4-0 run to claw within four points (23-19), but it wouldn't be enough as CSUP took the final two points for a 25-19 win in the set and a 3-0 match win.
- CSU Pueblo held the advantage in points (53.0-41.0), kills (46-33), assists (42-32), and digs (47-36), while Black Hills State held the edge in blocks (4-3). The teams were even with four aces apiece.Â
