SPEARFISH, S.D.- Black Hills State University head women's volleyball coach
Grayson DuBose announced the signing of three student-athletes as part of the 2026 signing class on Wednesday afternoon which includes Adelyn Bouman (Spearfish, S.D.), Emma Hager (Casper, Wyo.), and Peyton Carruth (Casper, Wyo.). They will join a recruiting class that already contains five other players.

Maddie Altstiel (Rapid City, S.D.),
Alannah Kemmis (Bismarck, N.D.),
Keirian Barnett (Littleton, Colo.), and
Aspen Baird (Gillette, Wyo.). The eight players listed above will be joining the Yellow Jackets next fall.
"All three of these athletes fill a need in our program as we look to compete at a high level in the RMAC," Head Coach Grayson Dubose said on this group of signees.
Adelyn Bouman // Outside Hitter // 5'7" // Spearfish, S.D. // Spearfish H.S.
Bouman will be entering BHSU as a freshman from the hometown Spearfish H.S. As a volleyball player, Bouman is one of the best outside's in school history. She holds the Spartan's all-time kill record with 895 and also holds the record for kills in a season reaching 330 in her senior year. Also during her senior year she had 301 digs and 56 aces and was named to the All-Conference team. She is a four-time All-Conference player earning it each year of her high school career. She had 270 kills, 270 digs and 33 aces as a junior, 185 kills and 214 digs as a sophomore, and 110 kills as a freshman. She also ran track at SHS, she is a part of the school record breaking 800-meter relay and 1600 meter medley teams. The four-year starter for head coach Shelbie Richards will look to make an impact for her hometown school early in her career. Bouman is the daughter of Lindsay and Tate Bouman and the sister to Maria and Finley. She comes from a Hardrocker family and will be the first to be a Yellow Jacket. Her mom Lindsay played volleyball at South Dakota Mines while her dad played basketball. Her older sister Maria is currently a sophomore at SDM playing on the volleyball team and made 15 starts this year.
Coach DuBose's Thoughts: "Ady is a local athlete, she was well coached at Spearfish High School, who comes from a deep volleyball background. As a multi-sport athlete, she is going to add a nice competitive element to our gym this fall."
Emma Hager // Middle Blocker // 6'0" // Casper, Wyo. // Kelly Walsh H.S.
Hager enters her freshman year at BHSU fresh off back-to-back state championships with Kelly Walsh H.S. in 2024 and 2025. She will be competing in both volleyball and track and field as a Yellow Jacket, specializing in the high jump. She was a one year starter and player for coach Jeff Barkell's team. She is coming off an All-State and All-Conference season where she had 284 kills, a .333 hitting percentage, 23 aces, 92 total blocks and 0.9 blocks per set. She put up these insane numbers while finishing fifth at state in the high jump in 2024. She helped lead her team to two straight regional championships as well. She will be looking to make an immediate impact for the Yellow Jackets. She is the daughter of Tony and Michelle Hager and the sibling to Mya, Abby, Avery, and Gracie.
Coach DuBose's Thought's: "Emma comes from an outstanding high school program where she received a solid background in being a middle blocker. She is going to add some depth to our roster. We are excited about seeing what she will bring to our gym and to the track as she competes in the high jump."
Peyton Carruth // Outside Hitter // 5'8" // Casper, Wyo. // Kelly Walsh H.S. // Casper College
Carruth enters this season as a redshirt sophomore after having a historic season at Casper College. Carruth was named Region IX Freshman of the Year and Region IX Player of the Year after finishing the season with 479 kills, 437 digs, 50 blocks, and 58 aces. She helped lead the Thunderbirds to a 12-0 region record and a 11
th place finish in the NJCAA tournament. She was named NJCAA National Player of the Week once, she was also named Region IX Defensive Player of the Week once and Region IX Offensive Player of the Week four times. She led the north side of her region in kills and kills per set 3.68 as well as points (565.0), and points per set. She was named Second Team All-American for her season and was named to the Region IX All-Tournament Team. Carruth was also a dominant player at Kelly Walsh H.S. as an undergrad. She had over 1200 career kills in her high school career including 400 as a junior. She had over 175 aces in her career including 71 in her junior season and also had nearly 1000 digs in her career. She was part of a Kelly Walsh team led by Jeff Barkell, who made the state championship game all four seasons she was there and won two of them in 2019 and 2022. Carruth was a four-time All-Conference member, and a three-time All-State player. She was named MaxPreps Player of the Year in Wyoming her senior season. The redshirt sophomore will be a difference maker for the Jackets from the jump. Carruth is the daughter of Chris and Brent Carruth and the sibling of Corin Carruth. Her dad Brent did rodeo at Panhandle State University and her sister Corin played volleyball at University of Wyoming and now plays semi-pro in Dallas, Texas.
Coach DuBose's Thoughts: "Peyton is a strong and experienced outside hitter. She gained good training while at Casper College and understands what it takes to be successful at this level."
