Four Yellow Jacket Women’s Volleyball Student-Athletes Receive CSC Academic All-District® Recognition

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2025 Academic All-District® recipients for the sport of women's soccer on Tuesday afternoon, with Black Hills State University having the maximum of six honored for the second consecutive year. Representing the Yellow Jackets are Ellie Thomas, Zoie Husman, Elena Atkinson, and Sydnie Tuioti-Mariner. Additionally, Thomas has been selected as a finalist and will be represented on the CSC Academic All-America ® ballot, which will be voted on by CSC members. The 2025 First-, Second-, and Third-Team CSC Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 16, 2025.

Libero Ellie Thomas from Gillette, Wyoming had a brilliant year for the Yellow Jackets on defense. She finished with 451 digs and 4.85 digs per set. The total digs ranked second in the RMAC and 64th in the country, while her digs per set ranked third in the conference and 50th in the country. She finished with ten or more digs in every single game this year and was named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on October 20 for her performance against Adams State and Highlands where she had 44 total digs in seven sets, which led the RMAC that week. She finished her career with a career-high 33 digs in the season finale against Westminster and reached 20 digs eight times this year. She also produced 14 aces and a .925 reception percentage. She posted a 3.787 GPA while majoring in human services.

Zoie Husman appeared in all 26 games for the Yellow Jackets as a serve specialist. She finished the season with 129 digs and had ten plus digs in two matches this year. She finished second on the team with 24 aces including a career-high six aces versus UMary. She had a 3.974 GPA while majoring in exercise science.

Elena Atkinson had a great year as a redshirt sophomore. The setter started 16 of 26 games and led BHSU in assists with 403. She averaged 4.58 assists per set and reached ten or more assists in 19 of 26 games while making 20 eight times with a career-high 38 assists versus Augustana in the season opener. She also added 121 digs and 11 aces. She finished with a 3.938 GPA while majoring in exercise science.

Sydnie Tuioti-Mariner had a great year in her graduate season. In tandem with Atkinson, she started 10 of the 26 games and finished with 337 assists and 4.01 assists per set. She finished with ten or more assists in all but seven games, and had a season-high 26 versus Chadron State. She also led the team in aces with 25 and finished third on the team with 170 digs including 16 versus Chadron State. She completed the year with a 3.672 GPA while majoring in human services.

School's athletic communication staffs are allowed to nominate up to six student-athletes for a spot on the CSC Academic All-District® list. To be eligible individuals must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 in their academic career and compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's matches.
