GOLDEN, Colo.- The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets were unable to grab an upset win in Golden as they drop their fourth straight match 3-0 to the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers. The Yellow Jackets got 21 points in the third set, but lost the other two 25-14 and 25-10. They were led by
Emily Freeland with six kills, three digs, and two aces, but also got another double-digit dig game from
Ellie Thomas.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set started close with the Yellow Jackets taking an early 3-2 lead. Mines would then win five of the next seven to take a 7-5 lead before BHSU kept it close and cut the lead to 9-8. The Orediggers won three straight to grow their lead to four and BHSU answered back by winning four of the next six to only be down two at 14-12. Jenna McLaughlin got a kill for Mines that started an 11-2 run to give Colorado School of Mines the 25-14 set win.
- The second set was all Mines. They started the set 11-3 making it a now 22-5 run and then split five points with the Yellow Jackets to keep it at 13-6 before Mines won eight straight points to make it 21-6. BHSU would win four of the next seven to make it 24-10 before McLaughlin ended it with a kill to take the set 25-10. In what turned into a 36-12 run.
- The third set was a lot like the first with BHSU starting the set up 3-2 before Mines won five of six points to take a 7-4 lead. BHSU would win three in a row with kills by Randi Wellhoefer and Freeland and a block by Carsyn Mettler and Peyton McLeod. After tying it up, Mines would win seven of the next nine points to take a 14-9 lead before BHSU bounced back winning five of the next six with two solo blocks by Jaeda Davis-Golliher and Mianna Cardenas and an ace by Freeland to make it 15-14. The Orediggers would answer by winning eight of the nine points to take a 23-15 lead on six kills and a block. BHSU would then win five in a row with two kills and a block by Mettler. CSM would end it winning two of three points to give them a 25-21 set win and the 3-0 match win.
