SPEARFISH, S.D.- Coach
Ashlyn Englehorn has added to her 2025 class with two new transfers in 1B/C Caylee Mann from Butler Community College and RHP/1B Sophia Honse from Western Illinois. They will join seven others who were announced earlier this summer in Sammie Kaufman-Warner (OF, Chandler, Ariz.) Jessica Melendez (INF, Pasco, Wash.), Brooklyn Theiler (OF, Buckeye, Ariz.), Dakota Poag (P, Cypress, Texas), Makenna Harrington (INF/UTIL, Parker, Colo.), Delaney Milanowski (C/UTIL, Spring Green, Wisc., Des Moines Area CC), and Kaitlyn Geschwill (P/UTIL, Pequot Lakes, Minn., Central Lakes College).
"We are so excited to add Sophia and Caylee to our battery," head coach
Ashlyn Englehorn said. "These positions are the cornerstone of our success, and adding talented student-athletes in both roles strengthens our roster and our ability to compete at a high level. We expect them to fit right into the team culture and success that we are building upon here at BH, and we can't wait for them to get on campus this fall."

Sophia Honse // Pitcher/First Base // 5'10" // Salem, Oregon // Sprague High School // Western Illinois
Honse is entering BHSU as a redshirt junior after spending her last three years at D1 Western Illinois. While she was at Western, she made 17 pitching appearances in 2023 and 2025 and redshirted in 2024. In 2023, she had a career high of innings pitched at 3.1 versus Wichita State, while also striking out two. She had a very good relief outing versus South Dakota in 2023 where she pitched two innings, only allowing one hit and striking out two without giving up a run. She had a career with 30.2 innings pitched with 17 strikeouts for her time as a Leatherneck. During her high school career at Sprauge HS in Salem, Oregon, she was a four-time letter winner and team captain for the Olympians under head coach Chelsea Qualls and Madi Oliver. She was named Second Team All-Conference twice, First Team All-Conference once, and First Team All-State once. During her senior season, she had a 3.56 ERA with a 16-8 record while having 139 strikeouts in 139.1 innings pitched. She also hit .541 with 43 RBIs and 14 home runs. She earned a trip to the Oregon 6A All-Star game for her performance that season. She played travel ball for the NW Bullets. Honse is the daughter of Celeste and Richard Honse.
Coach Englehorn's Thoughts: "Sophia is going to be a great addition to our squad on and off the field. We are confident that she will make an impact and bring versatility to our pitching staff. She competed in the OVS, as well as the American Collegiate League during the summer, and has seen top talent in the country. We expect her to be in the mix with the rest of our pitching staff and can also bring power at the plate."

She has played against top JUCO competition and has won a conference title in back-to-back years with the Grizzlies. She is a great teammate and student of the game and will add great leadership to our team and push us to reach new heights."Â
