BROOMFIELD, COLO- The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets improved on their 328 (+40) yesterday by shooting a 327 (+39) today. They were able to post their fourth straight top ten program round at the Swan Memorial with that performance which sits in a tie for fifth. The Green and Gold's 36-hole score of 655 (+79) was only two shots behind the all-time 36-hole record that they shot at the Swan last year.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Shelbi Gardner continued her strong start to the season by shooting an 82 (+10) this afternoon. Gardner was able to move into the top ten into a tie for sixth for lowest individual 36-hole rounds in program history with her score of 159 (+15). She finished in 41^st place in the tournament and led the Yellow Jackets. After starting the day with a triple bogey, Gardner bounced back with two birdies and shooting +7 the rest of the way.
• Leyni Stavola was the individual golfer at the Swan Memorial for BHSU, but she played exceptionally well. She tied her career-low round today with a 79 (+7). Stavola finished the tournament with a 162 (+18) and finished in 44^th place. Stavola did not have a score worse than bogey today and had 11 pars on the round.
• Ava Kalanek finished third on the team with a 163 (+19) that puts her in 46^th place at the tournament. Kalanek shot -1 (35) on the front nine today with two birdies and six pars. Kalanek bounced back in a big way after going +6 on her first four holes to shoot 80 (+8) today.
• Makaela Swanson finished fourth on the team with 164 (+20) and a 49^th place finish. She was the medalist for this team today however, tying Stavola with a 79 (+7) for the round. She shot a bogey-free 36 (E) on the front nine today and had 13 pars overall today. She made two straight pars to finish the tourney today.
• Katie Jorgenson finished sixth on the team after matching her 86 (+14) with an 86 (+14) today. Jorgenson sat in 60^th place after the tournament today with a 172 (+28). She had ten pars on the day.
