SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - A total of 12 career-best times paced the Black Hills State men's and women's cross country teams to top-10 finishes at the Augustana Invitational on Friday morning at the Yankton Trails Park, where the women's squad finished ahead of No. 23 nationally-ranked Nebraska-Kearney for a second place team finish with 86 points and the men's squad finished in seventh place with 191 team points. The women's team saw all five of their scorers finish within the top-30 of the 264-runner field, highlighted by top-10 finishes by Emma Hofmeister and Kori Keil. On the men's side all five team scorers finished within the top-50 of the 295-runner field, highlighted by a 27th place finish from Turner Christians. 

HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY 

• Turner Christians paced the Black Hills State men's team on Friday morning, clocking a career-best 8K time at 25:01.7 and a 27th place finish. 
• Landrum Wiley and Emmett Swartzentruber added finishes of 39th and 40th place, finishing within a second of one another with times of 25:11.9 and 25:12.4 respectively for new career-bests at the distance. 
• Gage Kuhlenbeck added a 45th place finish and time of 25:19.3 in his first collegiate 8K race, while Jaxon Straus rounded out the team scoring with a career-best time of 25:25.0 for 50th place. 
• The pair of Anthony Ackerman and Dominic Eberle were sixth and seventh in the team lineup, posting times of 25:42.9 and 26:00.6 for finishes of 73rd and 90th respectively. Ackerman's time set a new career-best mark for an 8K distance race. 
• Rounding out the runners for the Yellow Jacets at the Yankton Trails Park was Conor Phipps who finished 107th with a time of 26:13.9, Quinn Brunch who finished 109th with a time of 26:15.4, Alberto Spotted who finished 111th with a time of 26:17.5, Ian Weich who finished 120th with a time of 26:28.3, and Lucas Keith who finished 141st with a time of 26:43.9.  

MEN'S TEAM STANDINGS 

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY 

• Emma Hofmeister and Kori Keil ran to top-10 finishes on Friday morning, with times of 21:06.0 and 21:13.0 respectively for seventh and tenth place in the race. For Hofmeister, her time set a new career-best mark, while for Keil it was her first collegiate race at the 6K distance. 
• Kira Ubence, another freshman on a strong Yellow Jacket lineup, ran to an 18th place finish and a time of 21:24.4 in her first collegiate 6K. 
• Rounding out the team scores for BHSU were Abigail Robberson and Mason Berg with career-best times of 21:35.9 and 21:38.0 for 26th and 28th place respectively, securing five top-30 finishes for the Green & Gold in a race of 264 athletes. 
• Abby Hardersen crossed the finish line sixth in the Black Hills State lineup at the Yankton Trails Park with a time of 22:15.4 in her first collegiate 6K, while Sierra Hopp added a 68th place finish and clocked a career-best time of 22:32.9. 
• Additional runners for Black Hills State on Friday morning were Ava Allen who finished 80th with a time of 22:45.0, Alyssa Brandt who finished 87th with a time of 23:00.9, Noah Denison who finished 99th with a time of 23:12.0, Nicole Clark who finished 104th with a time of 23:16.1, Shelby Zickefoose who finished 138th with a time of 23:55.6, and Zena Tapia who finished 148th with a time of 24:03.8. Allen, Brandt, and Clark each notched career-best 6K times in the race.

The Black Hills State men's and women's cross country teams will be off until Saturday, October 17, when they make a trip south to Fort Worth, Texas, where they will compete in Dallas Baptist's Old Glory Gallop at the AP Ranch.
