Golf finishes third, Weeldreyer takes fourth

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Adrianna Weeldreyer finished in the top-five, and the Black Hills State University golf team took third place at the Dickinson State Spring Invite. The two-day tournament was held at Arrowhead Golf Course.

Weeldreyer led the way for the Yellow Jackets in her first tournament as a member of the Green and Gold. She finished tied for fourth after carding 32-over 174 (90-84). Taryn Mayer was sixth, shooting 38-over 180 (87-93), while Hayley Franke finished tied for eighth at 40-over (92-90=182). Gracie Johnson was 15th with a score of 55-over 197 (96-101), and Katie Welniak was 69-over 211 (111-100) to finish 18th.

The Yellow Jackets finished third as a team, carding 732 (365-367). South Dakota School of Mines was the top team, shooting 681. Emily Schimbeno of the Hardrockers was the top individual at 18-over 160 (78-82).

The Green and Gold will have a rematch with SDM on Tuesday, April 9, at Spearfish Canyon Country Club. The teams tee off at 9:30 a.m.
