Soccer inks five for 2019

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University head women's soccer coach, Mike Greco, has announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2019-20 year.

Samantha Turpen
Turpen is a 5-9 defender from Laramie, Wyoming. She was a member of the 4A State Championship team her freshman year, while Laramie High School was second her sophomore year and third her junior year.
 
"Sam is an impressive and mature young woman," said Coach Greco. "She will add a great deal of consistency and heart to our program. We are excited to have Sam here at BHSU!"
 
Samantha is the daughter of Jennifer and Scott Turpen. She is an honor roll student, and plans to major in exercise science at BHSU.
 
Haylie Scruggs
Scruggs, from Windsor, Colorado, is a 4-11 defender. She was on the Windsor High School team which won the State Championship in 2018.
 
"Haylie is a fun and vivacious young woman," said Coach Greco. "She plays with physical strength and courage, and her won't-back-down attitude will help bolster our defensive line. We expect Haylie to make a significant impact in the program and within our team."
 
Haylie is the daughter of Brandy and Jerry Scruggs. She plans to major in business.
 
Brianna Tudor
Tudor is a 5-9 midfielder from Belle Plaine, Minnesota. During her senior year, Tudor scored 10 goals and tallied six assists. She recorded 21 goals and 12 assists her junior year at Jordan High School.
 
"Brianna is a lively and outgoing young women. She plays with calm and mature simplicity that dictates the pace and momentum of the game," said Coach Greco. "We are happy to have Brianna as part of our team next season!"
 
Brianna is the daughter of Danielle and Jonathan Tudor. She plans to major in sociology at BHSU.
 
Alexa Buckley
Buckley is a 5-8 forward/midfielder from Watertown, S.D. She was the captain of Watertown High School her junior and senior years. She had five goals in her senior year, being named Honorable Mention.
 
"Alexa is a fantastic young woman who will fit well with our current team," said Coach Greco. "She has the ability to step in and make a difference right away. We are thrilled to have Alexa with us!"
 
Alexa, the daughter of Beth Buckley, plans to major in elementary education.
 
Elisabeth Riisnaes
Riisnaes, a native of Rapid City, S.D., is a 5-4 midfielder. She was a co-captain her senior year at Rapid City Central High School, and was named to the South Dakota All-State Academic Team. Her sophomore year, she scored five goals, as her team won the State Championship.
 
"Elisabeth is an incredibly determined and focused young woman," said Coach Greco. "She holds a high standard for herself which will mesh well within our growing program. We are proud that E decided to join our group."
 
Elisabeth is the daughter of Cathy and Alf Riisnaes. She is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in graphic design.
