NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -Â The Black Hills State University Rodeo Team traveled to North Platte, Neb. this past weekend to compete at the MPCC Stampede. The rodeo was a double header that consisted of two long go's on Sept. 17-19 and a short go on Sept. 19 showcasing the top ten contestants in each event.
One-Go (Thursday-Friday)
Women
The women's team had a first-place finish in the first rodeo.
Riley Donnelly finished second in the goat tying with
Cashae McGee close behind finishing third. Also placing were
Savana Johnston (sixth) and
Tayle Brink (eighth). In the barrel racing,
Emilee Pauley took first while
Taylor Hanson was second and
Brooklyn Hanson placed fourth.
Men
On the men's side,
Dalton Magilke and
Tanner Fite placed second in the team roping with
Chandler Comfort placing fifth.
Daycen Hunt placed sixth in the steer wrestling and
Riley Staton was seventh in the tie-down roping.
Long-Go/Short-Go (Friday-Saturday)
Women
In the second rodeo, the women placed second with Brink winning the Women's All-Around. Brink was second in the goat tying and fourth in the breakaway roping. Also placing in the goat tying was Johnston in sixth.
In breakaway,
Tayla Thorstenson placed second with
Chanci Kraft in third,
Kassidy Caspers in fifth, and
Meza Ham in sixth. Johnston placed third in the team roping with
Brooklyn Hanson and Caspers close behind in fourth. In the barrel racing,
Sydney Theobald placed third, Pauley fourth, and
Jordan Hanson fifth.
Men
The Men's Team finished with
Collin Palmer third in the tie-down roping. Placing in the team roping was
Mason Bice in fifth and
Nick Bjork in sixth.
Up Next
The Yellow Jackets will head to Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa to compete in another double header on Sept. 24-26.
