FORT DODGE, Iowa – Black Hills State University rodeo traveled to Fort Dodge, Iowa to compete in the Triton Stampede Sept. 24-26. The rodeo consisted of two separate rodeos, a single long go on Sept. 24-25 and a long go/short go on Sept. 25-26.
First Go (Thursday-Friday)
Women
The Women's Team finished in second place during the first rodeo. In the goat tying,
Tayle Brink placed second,
Karli Verhulst placed fourth, and
Emilee Pauley placed sixth.
In the barrel racing,
Cashae McGee finished first,
Taylor Hanson finished second,
Sydney Theobald was fourth, Brink and
Jordan Hanson tied for a sixth-place finish, and Verhulst placed eighth.
Chanci Kraft placed fourth in the breakaway with
Brooklyn Hanson close behind in fifth. Brink also completed the rodeo with the Women's All-Around title.
Men
Collin Palmer earned first in the tie-down roping with
Riley Staton following with a fifth-place finish.
Mason Bice also took first in the team roping.
Also placing in the team roping was
Courtney Peters and
Tucker Chytka in eighth.
Second Go/Short Go (Friday-Saturday)
Women
The Women's Team finished second-place in the second rodeo. Verhulst placed third in the goat tying with
Riley Donnelly close behind in a fourth-place finish.
Tayla Thorstenson was second in the breakaway with
Taylor Hanson in sixth. McGee snatched first-place in the barrel racing. Brink placed fourth in the team roping.
Men
The Men's Team completed the rodeo with a third-place finish. In the tie-down roping, Palmer finished third and Staton placed fifth.
Tayte Goodman earned a second-place finish in the saddle bronc riding.
Up Next
The rodeo team will travel to Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D. to complete their fall season with a double header on Oct. 1-3.
