Women Finish Eighth, Men 30th at CNFR

CASPER, Wyo. – Black Hills State rodeo wrapped up its showing at the 2021 College Nationals Final Rodeo on Saturday.

"I'm really proud of our team and their achievements this year," said head coach Glen Lammers. "It's a big accomplishment to qualify for the CNFR, and our Yellow Jackets had a great showing at the finals amongst the nation's top competitors. I was impressed with our team's ability to stay focused, disciplined and execute on such a big stage."

Courtney Peters led the women, finishing second in the nation in Breakaway Roping as the women placed eighth nationally with 205 points.

The men placed 30th overall with 125 points behind a fourth-place finish from Collin Palmer in the Tie Down Roping.

Women
Breakaway Roping
In Breakaway Roping, Peters led the way for the Yellow Jackets finishing eighth overall with a time of 3.2 in the short go. In the event's first go round, she finished seventh with a 2.7 and Tayle Brink placed 30th with a 12.4.

In the second go round, Peters was sixth with a 2.5, and Brink was 38th with a no time. In the third go round, Peters finished 20th with a 2.9 and advanced to the final short go in third place, while Brink finished tied for 15th with a 2.7 in the third go round to place 30th nationally in the event.

Barrel Racing
Emilee Pauley finished 11th overall in Barrel Racing after Saturday's short go with a time of 19.14. Taylor Hanson placed 15th with an average time of 43.87.

In the first go round, Pauley placed 15th with a run of 14.54 and Hanson 18th with a 14.67. In the second go round, Pauley placed 19th with a 14.50 and Hanson 37th with a 15.03. Pauley then placed 12th with a 14.38 and Hanson fourth with a 14.17 in the third go round, respectively.

Goat Tying
Tayle Brink represented the Yellow Jackets in the goat tying event. Brink finished in 16th place nationally. In the first go, Brink placed 18th with a time of 7.0. In the second go, Brink was a 7.1 placing her 19th in the round. Brink finished in the third go placing 25th with a 7.7.

Men
Tie Down Roping
Palmer secured his 4th place finish after earning a time of 13.3 in the short round. In the first go, Palmer was a 9.9 earning him 9th place in the go. Palmer following with a 14.6 for 18th place in the second go and an 11.3 for 13th place in the third go, punching his ticket to the short go.

Team Roping
Chandler Comfort earned a 28th place finish on the heeling side. Comfort placed 5th in the first go with a 6.5. Comfort and his partner had no luck in the second and third rounds.

Tanner Fite also competed in the team roping on the heeling side.
