BILLINGS, MONT. – Black Hills State women's golf finished the first round of the Yellowjacket Invitational on Monday and placed fifth out of the seven-team field.
The Yellow Jackets (339, +51) currently sit in fifth place at the conclusion of the first round. South Dakota Mines (310, +22) currently holds first place, with the University of Mary (324, +36) trailing second. The hosting Montana State Billings (326, +38) rounds out the top three teams in the field.
BHSU golf was led by
Olivia McCandless (79, +7), who finished her day one in a three-way tie for fifth. The freshman out of Arvada, Colo. sits only three strokes behind the leading golfer of the field as she smashed her season low of 83 (Westminster Wasatch Invite) and personal best score of 80 (junior year of high school).
Katie Jorgenson (83, +11) followed behind as she ended her round in a four-way battle for 16
th.
Lola Homiston (87, +15) locked up a four-way tie for 23
rd and
Jocelyn Olson (90, +18) placed in a tie for 29
th.
Cami Langley (104, +32) finished the first round tied for 38
th.
The Yellow Jackets also had two individual golfers on the links at the Lake Hills Golf Club today.
Jacqueline Bowles (87, +15) was in the four-golfer mix for 23
rd while
Madisen Jarrett (96, +24) tied for 32
nd by days end.
