Women's Golf to Finish Fall 2023 in Billings for Yellowjacket Invitational

BILLINGS, S.D. – Black Hills State women's golf will finish the fall portion of the 2023-24 season at the Yellowjacket Invitational this Monday, Oct. 16 through Tuesday, Oct. 17.

The tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,802-yard Lake Hills Golf Club in Billings, Montana, and will feature two rounds to be played by the women's field. On both days, the women will begin play at 9 a.m. in a shotgun start.

BHSU will be represented by Ava Kalanek, Lola Homiston, Katie Jorgenson, Cami Langley, and Anna Talarico playing as a team, along with Jessica Folchert playing as an individual in the tournament.

South Dakota Mines (two teams) and Chadron State will also represent the RMAC at the tournament, with Rocky Mountain College (two teams), Montana Tech, Jamestown, and the hosting Montana State - Billings filling in the remainder of nine teams to tee off this week in the women's tournament.  

LAST OUTING
PUEBLO, Colo. – Black Hills State women's golf played through the final 18-hole round at the Sam Proal Invitational on Tuesday, ending the tournament in 12th place after shedding 19-strokes as a team.

The Yellow Jackets (719, +143) were led by Ava Kalanek (171, +27) once more on day two, who shaved five strokes off her scorecard in the second round to finish in a tie for 44th.  

Lola Homiston (181, +37) saw a major 11-stroke improvement on her round two scores to finish in a tie for 65th, while Katie Jorgenson (183, +39) and Cami Langley (184, +40) finished the tournament in ties for 67th and 71st, respectively. Jorgenson's round two score saw seven less strokes recorded than in her previous Monday round.

Rounding out the Yellow Jacket golfers was Madisen Jarrett (201, +57), who landed in a tie for 80th.

Though they added six shots to their team score in the second day, Texas A&M International (610, +34) emerged victorious in Pueblo, with Midwestern (611, +35) narrowly falling to second. Rounding out the top three finishing schools at the Pueblo Country Club was the hosting CSU Pueblo (617, +41), who saw a 23-stroke improvement on day two.
