NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Black Hills State rodeo had another solid showing at this weekend's double rodeo at Mid-Plains Community College with the men finishing second in the opening rodeo, and both the men and women finishing second in the finale.
In the first rodeo,
Riley Hannum was named Men's All-Around while
Emma Ohm got the honor on the women's side. In the second rodeo,
Karli Verhulst was Reserve Women's All-Around.
Rodeo One
Women
In Goat Tying, Ohm and Verhulst each finished seventh with a 7.7, and in the Barrel Racing,
Sydney Theobald placed eighth with a 17.92.
Tessa Caspers led BHSU with a fourth-place finish in Breakaway Roping with a 3.0, while
Riley Donnelly placed sixth with a 3.2 and
Haven Jones was eighth with a 3.9.
Ohm, along with
Austin Madison, earned a sixth-place finish in Team Roping with a 9.4.
Men
In Steer Wrestling,
Riley Hannum came in sixth with a 7.0, followed by Madison in seventh with a 7.1.
Luke Mavity earned himself a third-place showing in Tie Down Roping with a 12.3, and
Nick Bjork came in sixth with a 13.2.
Clayton Backhaus finished first in Team roping with a 7.2 and
Riley Hannum placed second with an 8.4. They were followed by Ohm and Madison who placed sixth with a 9.4
Rodeo Two
Women
The Yellow Jackets had the top two finishers in Goat Tying as Verhulst placed first with a 14.0 on two and
Cashae McGee came in second with a 14.2 on two.
Then the team had four of the top five in Breakaway Roping, with Jones in first with a 5.4 on two, Ohm in second with a 5.5 on two and
Jaycee Wooters in third with a 6.0 on two while
Jayme Peterson came in fifth with a 6.7 on two.
Peterson and Bjork, and
Tessa Caspers and Sidney Hansen tied for sixth in the Team Roping long-go with a 10.0.
In Barrel Racing, Theobald finished sixth with a 35.18 on two while Verhulst had a fifth-place finish in the long-go with a 17.55.
Men
In Steer Wrestling, Madison finished first with an 8.6 on two. Hannum came in fourth in the long-go with a 5.2.
Swade Reis came in fifth in Tie Down Roping with a 33.0 on two, followed by
Riley Staton in sixth with a 9.0 on one. Mavity was fourth in the long-go with a 10.9.
In Team Roping, Backhaus checked in at fourth with a 7.2 on one, and then Peterson and Bjork, and Caspers and Hansen tied for sixth in the long-go with a 10.0.

The Yellow Jackets hit the road again this weekend to compete at the Triton Stampede hosted by Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa on Friday and Saturday.
