SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State women's golf team looks to round out a strong first half of the season on Monday, October 14, and Tuesday, October 15, as they travel west to the Yellowjacket Fall Invite hosted by Montana State Billings. The Yellow Jackets are coming off of their third consecutive top-5 finish as a team as they look to end the fall slate on a high note. The action gets underway with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on both days at the Lake Hills Golf Club in Billings, Montana.

BLACK HILLS STATE STORYLINES
- Black Hills State continued their strong start to the fall season last week as they posted their third consecutive top-5 team finish with a score of 703 (+127) for second place at the Marauder Golf Invite.
- The Yellow Jackets have totaled four of the best single round scores in the program's DII history this fall, recording the second-best score in round one of Swan Memorial with a 326 (+38), the third-best score in round two of the Swan Memorial with a 327 (+39), tying for the eighth best score in round two of the Marauder Golf Invite with a 334 (+46), and tying for the tenth-best score in round one of the Black Hills State Classic with a 337 (+49). Additionally, BHSU has notched the program's best DII mark for a 36-hole tournament with a score of 653 (+77) at the Swan Memorial.
- Following back-to-back career best finishes of third place at the Black Hills State Classic and the Marauder Golf Invite, Katie Jorgenson continues to be the top golfer in the Yellow Jacket team lineup. She has posted a stroke average of 81.00 through eight rounds this year and has notched a career-low round score in the first round of the Black Hills State Classic with a 79 (+7). Her career-best 36-hole score of 160 (+16) at this year's Swan Memorial continues to be tied for the seven-best in the school's DII record book. Additionally, she became the first Yellow Jacket to ever be named the RMAC Women's Golfer of the Week earlier this fall on September 26.
- Leyni Stavola is coming off her first career top-10 finish as she earned a tie for seventh with a score of 180 (+36) at the Marauder Golf Invite. Through eight rounds this fall season she has posted a stroke average of 86.38, to go along with a career-best round score of 81 (+9) and a 36-hole score of 166 (+22) that occurred in the Swan Memorial to begin the year.
- Makaela Swanson is also coming off her first career top-10 finish where she earned a tie for seventh place after carding a score of 180 (+36) at the Marauder Golf Invite. In the first eight rounds of the 2024 fall season, she has notched a stroke average of 87.25, as well as a career-best round of 78 (+6) and a 36-hole score of 169 (+25) which both occurred at the Swan Memorial. Her career-best round score which came in round two of the Swan Memorial remains tied for tenth in the BHSU DII record book.
- Ava Kalanek is coming off a season-best finish of 12th place at the Marauder Golf Invite, where she posted a score of 184 (+40). This season she has notched a stroke average of 88.25 through eight rounds of golf, in which she has recorded a season-low round of 84 (+12) on two occasions and a season-low 36-hole score of 168 (+24) that all took place at the Swan Memorial.
- Returning to the team lineup will be Olivia McCandless who last played at the Black Hills State Classic and recorded a tie for 35th place with a score of 197 (+53). She has averaged a 91.67 stroke average this year through six rounds. She shattered her previous low round score by 17 strokes with an 81 (+9) at the Swan Memorial which added to a low 36-hole score of 167 (+23) in the first tournament of the season.
- Lola Homiston returns to the course as part of the Black Hills State "B" lineup after last competing at the Black Hills State Classic where she recorded a 28th place finish with a score of 184 (+40). Through four rounds this year she has posted a stroke average of 91.50, which includes a season-low round score of 86 (+14) and a season-low 36-hole score of 182 (+38) at the Hardrocker Fall Invite.
- Cami Langley, also playing on this week's Black Hills State "B" lineup, after recording a season-best finish with a tie for ninth at the Marauder Golf Invite as she carded a 182 (+38). Through eight rounds of golf this fall, she has notched a stroke average of 91.38, to go along with a season-best round score of 83 (+11) and a season-best 36-hole score of 173 (+29) that both occurred at the Swan Memorial.
- Jessica Folchert returns to the course for the first time since the Black Hills State Classic, where she earned a 32nd place finish with a score of 186 (+42). This year she has a stroke average of 97.25 through four rounds and has posted a season-low round of 89 (+17) and a season-best 36-hole score of 186 (+42), which both occurred in BHSU's home tournament in Spearfish.
- Anna Tlarico will make her season debut on Monday at the Yellowjacket Fall Invite. A year ago she played 16 rounds for Black Hills State where she recorded a 94.4 stroke average. She held a season-low round score of 85 (+13) at the SMSU Classic and a season-best 36-hole score of 176 (+32) at the Yellowjacket Fall Invitational.
- Randy Doran is in his first year officially as the head coach for Black Hills State, after serving as interim head coach a year ago.
