BILLINGS, Mont. – The Black Hills State University women's golf team sent a pair of teams west to the Yellowjacket Fall Invite, hosted by Montana State Billings, and the Yellow Jackets "A" team currently sits in sixth place with a score of 341 (+53), while the BHSU "B" team currently is tied for eighth place with a score of 368 (+80). Leading the nine Yellow Jacket golfers during the first round of play at the Lake Hills Golf Course was freshman Makaela Swanson, who currently is tied for 16^th as she carded a score of 82 (+10) on Monday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The top golfer during the first round of action for Black Hills State at the Yellowjacket Fall Invite was Makaela Swanson who carded a first round of 82 (+10), five strokes better than her season average to end the day tied for 16^th place. She notched eight scores of par during the round and added a pair of birdies on the first and tenth holes.
• Second among BHSU golfers and 25^th overall on the players leaderboard is Ava Kalanek, who posted a score of 85 (+13), which was three strokes better than her current season average. During round one she recorded four scores of par and added a team-best three birdies on the sixth, seventh, and 16^th holes on Monday.
• Third in the Yellow Jacket lineup was Katie Jorgenson, who tied for 26^th place with a first round score of 86 (+14). During the opening round of action at the Lake Hills Golf Course she tallied three scores of par and added a birdie on the third and 17^th holes.
• Also tied for 26^th place was Jessica Folchert, who carded a season-low round of 86 (+14), which was 11 strokes below her season average. Leading the BHSU "B" team, she posted scores of par on five holes and added a pair of birdies on the tenth and 16^th holes.
• The fourth and final countable score for the Black Hills State "A" lineup was Leyni Stavola who carded an opening round score of 88 (+16) for 33^rd place. During the first round of play in Billings she collected six scores of par and added a birdie on the second hole.
• Rounding out the Yellow Jacket "A" lineup was Olivia McCandless who recorded a first round score of 90 (+18), one stroke better than her season average as she ended the day in a tie for 37^th place. During Monday she tallied scores of par on three holes.
• The next BHSU athlete on the players leaderboard was Lola Homiston who is 39^th overall and second among golfers on the Yellow Jacket "B" team with an opening round score of 91 (+19). During the first round of action at the Lake Hills Golf Course she carded scores of par on five holes.
• Third on the Black Hills State "B" team on Monday was Cami Langley, who posted a score of 94 (+22) for 42^nd place on the players leaderboard. She recorded scores of par on a pair of holes during the opening round of golf.
• Rounding out the Yellow Jacket golfers during the first round of golf on Monday was Anna Talarico, who notched a score of 97 (+25) in her season debut for 44^th place. In the opening round of action, she scored par on a pair of holes.
