RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Black Hills State University golf team hit the course at the 2024 Hardrocker Spring Classic at Arrowhead Country Club, hosted by the South Dakota School of Mines, in a Triangular with Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) squads of South Dakota Mines and Chadron State.
ROUND 1
The Yellow Jackets were led in Round 1 of the tournament by
Lola Homiston (So., Dickinson, N.D.) who signed a scorecard of 86 with a birdie on hole five (par 3). She would lead the team, sitting inside the top-10 (T9th) heading into the second round on Thursday.
Katie Jorgenson (So., Sheridan, Wyo.) sat just three strokes behind Homiston in a tie for 12
th after the first round with a round of 89 (+18), while
Ava Kalanek (Fr., Bismarck, N.D.) carded a 90 (+19).
After the first day of action, Chadron State's Jordan Grasis led the field by a stroke with a signed card of 80 (+9).
ROUND 2
The second round was highlighted by
Cami Langley (Jr., Casper, Wyo.) who improved her first-round score by seven strokes and moved up three spots on the leaderboard to take a T16th finish at the tournament.
Kalanek also improved by three strokes on the second day, while
Olivia McCandless (So., Arvada, Colo.) improved her first-round score by an impressive 10 strokes to finish the tournament on a high note.
There was a tie for the individual title after the two rounds between South Dakota School of Mines' Rianna Garland (+18, 84-76-160) and Chadron State's Jordan Grasis (+18, 80-80-160). Grasis took the title after a two-hole playoff, as the Eagles also took the team title (+85, 653) by two strokes.
Black Hills State finished third with a team score of 727 (+159), led by Homiston who shot rounds of 86 and 90 for a two-round score of 176 (+34) for a tie for 13
th.
