RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's golf team saw a pair of teams in action on Monday afternoon during the first round of play at the Hardrocker Fall Invite at The Golf Club at Red Rock in Rapid City. Leading the charge for the Yellow Jacket "A" team was Katie Jorgenson, who currently sits top-10, and has the team tied for fifth with a score of 339 (+51). The BHSU "B" team ended the day ninth on the team leaderboard with an opening round score of 297 (+81).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Katie Jorgenson picked up right where she left off from last week as she once again led Black Hills State after the opening round of the Hardrocker Fall Invite. Her first round score of 81 (+9) placed her for a tie for eighth among the field and was just one stroke shy of her early season average of 80.0 as she scored par on six holes and added birdies on an additional three holes.
• After posting one of the top individual rounds in program history last week, Makaela Swanson was right on track with her current season stroke average of 84.5 as she carded an 84 (+12) for a tie for 16^th place on Monday. During the first 18 holes of action, she scored par on eight occasions and added two birdies at The Golf Club at Red Rock.
• Rounding out the trio of Yellow Jackets that ended the first day of action inside the top-20 was Ava Kalanek who was tied for 19^th place. She ended Monday afternoon just one stroke shy of her season average of 84.0 as she carded a round one score of 85 (+13) with eight scores of par along with a birdie on the 17^th hole.
• Leyni Stavola was fourth among BHSU golfers in the "A" team lineup as she notched a first round score of 89 (+17) for a tie for 27^th place. During Monday's 18 holes of action she notched nine scores of par.
• The top golfer for Black Hills State's "B" team in Rapid City was Lola Homiston, who made her season debut with a first round score of 96 (+24) for a tie for 45^th place. During the opening round of golf she carded scores of par on four occasions and added a birdie on the 12^th hole.
• Also among the Yellow Jacket's "B" team members was Cami Langley, who posted a first round score of 99 (+27) for 52^nd place on the players leaderboard. She carded one birdie during the opening round, occurring on the 15^th hole.
• Rounding out the Black Hills State "A" team lineup was Olivia McCandless who notched a first round score of 101 (+29) for a tie for 53^rd place. During the opening round of action at The Golf Club at Red Rock she carded scores of par on five holes.
• Rounding out the Yellow Jacket's "B" team lineup was Jessica Folchert, who made her season debut with a score of 102 (+30) for 55^th place. In the first round she carded scores of par on four holes.
