SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's golf team will look to continue their strong start to the 2024-25 season on Monday and Tuesday as the Yellow Jackets hope to carry over their success from last week's Swan Memorial. The action gets underway at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 16, with tee time starts and at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, with a shotgun start at The Golf Club at Red Rock.

BLACK HILLS STATE STORYLINES
- The Yellow Jackets opened the 2024-25 season with one of the best performances in school history, as they carded a school record 36-hole score of 653 (+77). Additionally, BHSU's first round score of 326 (+38) was the second-best round in school history, while the second round score of 327 (+39) was the third-best mark in school history.
- Katie Jorgenson opened the year last week with one of the top individual performances in program history, as she tied for seventh all-time for 36-hole scores with a 160 (+16) last week at the Swan Memorial. She carded round scores of 80 (+8) and 80 (+8).
- Leyni Stavola was one of two Yellow Jacket freshman who made their collegiate debut last week as she ended the tournament second in the BHSU team lineup with a 36-hole score of 166 (+22), with rounds of 81 (+9) and 85 (+13).
- Olivia McCandless had a breakout performance last week in Colorado as she recorded a career-best 36-hole score of 167 (+23) and posted round scores of 81 (+9) and 86 (+14), which were 17 and 12 strokes better than here season stroke average a year ago respectively.
- Ava Kalanek was fourth among the Black Hills State golfers at the Swan Memorial as she notched a pair of 84 (+12) rounds for a 36-hole total of 168 (+24).
- Rounding out this week's golfers for the Yellow Jacket "A" team will be Makaela Swanson, who closed out her freshman debut with one of the best single round performances in BHSU program history. After a round one score of 91 (+19) she saw a 13-shot improvement give her a second round score of 78 (+6), tying for the tenth best round in school history. She ended the tournament with a score of 169 (+25).
- Black Hills State will also have a "B" team competing in Rapid City over the course of the next two days, as Cami Langley, Lola Homiston, Jessica Folchert, and Anna Talarico will also take to the course to compete.
- In last season's Hardrocker Fall Invite, BHSU finished sixth overall as a team, moving up one spot from day one to day two as they carded a score of 703 (+127). Leading the Green & Gold in that outing was Lola Homiston who posted a 2-day total of 169 (+25) for 14th place in the 51-player field.
- Randy Doran is in his first year officially as the head coach for Black Hills State, after serving as interim head coach a year ago.
