BISMARCK, N.D. – Facing consistent winds of 35 miles per hour and gusts up to 50 miles per hour, the Black Hills State women's golf team braced the chilly conditions and ended the first round of the Marauder Golf Invite with a score of 369 (+81) for third place. Pacing the Yellow Jackets were a trio of athletes within the top-10, including Katie Jorgenson (second), Makaela Swanson (seventh), and Cami Langley (tenth) at the Hawktree Golf Club.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Once again it was Katie Jorgenson leading the way for the Black Hills State team, posting an opening round score of 84 (+12) for second place on the players leaderboard. During the first 18 holes of golf, she notched four scores of par to go along with a pair of birdies on the seventh and 18^th holes.
• Second among the Yellow Jackets and seventh on the players leaderboard is Makaela Swanson who recorded a first round score of 92 (+20). She notched four scores of par during the opening round.
• After playing the first three tournaments of the year as an individual, Cami Langley jumped into the BHSU team lineup and posted the third-best score of the day for the Yellow Jackets with a 96 (+24) to round out the top-10. She recorded three scores of par during today's round of golf at the Hawktree Golf Club.
• Rounding out the countable scores in the first round of play on Monday was Leyni Stavola, carding a 97 (+25) as she currently sits just outside of the top-10 in a tie for 11^th place. She notched a score of par on three holes during the 18 holes of golf today.
• Rounding out the group of Black Hills State golfers in the first round of action was Ava Kalanek, who posted a score of 99 (+27) for a tie for 13^th place on the players leaderboard. She collected a team-leading six scores of par during the opening round of play at the Hawktree Golf Club.
