BILLINGS, Mont.- The Yellow Jackets dropped from seventh to eighth to finish the Yellowjacket Fall Invitational at Lake Hills Golf Club in Billings, Montana. BHSU finished with a 345 (+57) in round two and shot 680 (+104) over the two days. BH finished just behind UMary and passed Central Wyoming on the last hole to grab an eighth-place position with Shelbi Gardner and Katie Jorgenson each shooting 84 (+12) today to lead the team.


HOW IT HAPPENED

• Shelbi Gardner put up a team-low 84 (+12) today to have a combined score of 167 (+23) over the two days and finish in a tie for 24^th at the tournament. Gardner was even par through the first six holes today after making a birdie on hole 13 today. She made three straight pars in her final five holes and had seven pars today.
• Makaela Swanson finished second on the team but third today after shooting a 87 (+15). Swanson placed in a tie for 28^th and shot a 168 (+24) overall for the tournament. After a tough back nine, she still put up four pars and then finished her round with five pars in her final six holes en route to 42 (+6) on the front nine.
• Katie Jorgenson tied for the best round on the day with an 84 (+12). She only had one par and one birdie on the back nine but turned it on in the second nine with six pars in her final ten holes and five on the front nine to shoot a 41 (+5) on that nine. Overall, Jorgenson shot a 171 (+27) and finished in 34^th place in Billings.
• Abbi Beld had a great start to her round and was only sitting at +9 through her first 13 holes with five pars and a birdie. This led her to shooting a 90 (+18) on the day and shooting a 174 (+30) over the tournament to place 39^th.
• Savanah Peterson for the fourth straight round set her career-low round. Peterson, who's previous career-low was an 89 (+17), shot a 88 (+16) today and was leading the team for a good amount of this tournament. Peterson made seven pars in her final 12 holes after paring the first hole as well. She shot 44 (+8) on each nine. The 177 (+33) she shot was her best 36-hole score of her career and put her in 46^th place.
• Leyni Stavola finished in 53^rd place after shooting a 97 (+25) today and a 193 (+49) over the two days in the tournament. Stavola started with a par and finished the day with three pars on the round. Her best nine was a 47 (+11) on the back nine today.

UP NEXT
BHSU will return to Billings next weekend to play in the Briarwood Shootout at Briarwood Golf Club. The tournament will be hosted by Billings again and that will have six teams. Five of those six teams competed here at this tournament with only Northwest Nazarene being the new team.
