SPEARFISH, S.D.- The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets were unable to get out of their own way tonight as they drop their sixth match in a row to Colorado Mesa 3-0. The Yellow Jackets had 36 digs and 3 aces tonight but had a negative hitting percentage having 17 kills to 20 errors. They were unable to score more than 12 points in a set tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Yellow Jackets got the first point of the match on a nice kill by Randi Wellhoefer before they gave up 12 of the next 13 points including four kills to Sadie Scoville. BHSU would get four of the next six points on two service errors and two kills by Wellhoefer and Davis-Golliher before allowing a 10-3 run to lose the set 25-10.
- The second set started off as much of the same when Mesa took a 7-2 lead early, but two kills and a block in a row by the Green and Gold got it to 7-5. CMU would grab five in a row to put it back to 12-5, before each team traded the next six points into the media timeout at 15-8. The Mavericks would come out of the timeout to go on a 10-2 run to end the set at 25-10 again with a 2-0 set lead.
- The third set started off close better for BHSU. They were tied 3-3 with Mesa before winning the next three points to get their first lead of any set since it was 1-0 in the first. They got a kill from Wellhoefer and an ace by Sydnie Tuioti-Mariner to make it 6-3 BHSU. Just as BHSU took the lead, Mesa answered back with an 18-3 run to make it 21-9. This included four aces and eight kills by Mesa. The Yellow Jackets won back-to-back points on a service error and a block error by Mesa to make it 21-11 before Mesa won the next three points with a service error and two aces. Davis-Golliher would get a kill before Lauren Waters ended the match for CMU taking a 25-12 set win into a 3-0 match victory.

The Yellow Jackets have five seniors and the presentation will occur before the game tomorrow at 5:30 PM. BHSU has a chance to play spoiler to a Westminster team right on the bubble of the RMAC tournament.
