RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets made 21 pars and two birdies in their last 21 holes of golf as they finished with a 334 (+50) day two score and a 701 (+133) 36-hole score. They finished fifth in the Hardrocker Spring Invite but finished third in scoring on day two. Olivia McCandless recorded a top 3 finish and Katie Jorgenson finished in the top 10. None of the five players playing for BHSU shot worse than 43 (+8) on the back nine and BHSU did not have to take a single score over 90 as their top four players today all shot in the 80s.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•    Olivia McCandless, a day after shooting her third best round of the season with an 84 (+13) turned around and shot her career-low 80 (+9) as she was able to hold off some strong competition and grab a third-place finish at the tournament. She finished with a 36-hole 164 (+22). This is her best finish in a tournament in her career by about 18 spots, with her previous best being a 21st place finish at the Hardrocker Spring Invite last season. She had an early double on her third hole but finished by going only six over on her next 15 holes. 
•    Katie Jorgenson also had an incredible day, after starting the round going +10 on her first 12 holes, she finished with six straight pars to end her round with an 81 (+10), which was tied for the fifth best round of the day. She finished in solo seventh, one shot back of a top five finish and a 36-hole score of 168 (+26). Jorgenson had a career nine holes on the back nine today as she shot a 36 (+1) on the back side. 
•    Leyni Stavola bounced back from her worst round of the season to shoot one of her best rounds of the season. After shooting a 101 (+30) yesterday, Stravola shot an 84 (+13) today, which put her in the top 10 of scores on the day and allowed her to jump from third to last place in the tournament to a tie for 24th as she shot a 185 (+43) in 36 holes. She finished her round with four straight pars to end the tourney and and shot a 40 on the back nine
•    Anna Talarico bounced back from a 103 yesterday by shooting an 89 (+18) today. She finished in 31st place today after shooting a 36-hole score of 192 (+50). She was the only Yellow Jacket to make a birdie in this tournament and she made two back-to-back on holes eight and nine to round out her front nine. She only had one double bogey and six bogeys on the back nine, which led to her shooting a 43 (+8) on the back side. 
•    Jessica Folchert bounced back from a rough week last weekend at the Southern Colorado Open, where she had a 101 and a 105. She posted two scores in the 90s this week, which included a 93 (+22) today. She finished by shooting 188 (+46) on 36 holes and finishing in 28th place in the tournament. She shot a 41 (+6) on the back nine today, which included ending her round with three straight pars, which were her first pars of the day.

The Yellow Jackets end their regular season with a trip to Mitchell, S.D., where they will play in the DWU Spring Golf Invite at Lakeview Golf Course as they prepare one last time for the RMAC Championships in two weeks.
