HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Katie Jorgenson was able to lead the Yellow Jackets with a first-round score of 84 (+12), she currently sits in 39th place in the tourney with that score. Jorgenson was the only golfer who didn't shoot 41 on the front shooting a 43, but she bounced back and put up a 41 on the back nine. Jorgenson made a birdie on the third hole to bounce back after going +3 over the first three holes. She would then par five of the nine holes on the back nine.
•
Ava Kalanek had an impressive round of 85 (+13) to put her in 40th place. Kalanek led the team with 10 pars on the round. She only went +4 through holes 2-14. Kalanek was able to go on the much-needed run and was actually leading the team until the final hole.
•
Olivia McCandless finished with an 86 (+14) and currently sits in 42nd place. She started her round with four straight bogey's before catching herself and making seven pars in the next nine holes. The final four holes were challenging, but she still put herself in great position for tomorrow.
•
Leyni Stavola is next and finished with an 87 (+15) and is currently sitting 43rd in the tournament. Stavola had an incredible round going for most of the day. She shot a 41 on the front and was only nine over par through 17 holes. She made one of the three birdies of the day when she birdied the par 4 fourth hole and finished the day with seven pars
•
Makaela Swanson, who was making her return to the team after missing most of spring season, also shot an 87 (+15) in round one today, so she sits in a tie for 43rd with Stavola. Swanson had the first birdie of the day for BHSU making birdie on the first hole of the tournament and putting herself in the lead early. She dropped back down but not by much shooting 41 on the front, before shooting a 46 on the back. She made six pars on the day along with the birdie. She was the only player on the team to par the 18th hole.
