SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State women's golf team will send three individuals to Mitchell, South Dakota to compete in the DWU Spring Invite. It will be the first time this season that the Yellow Jackets will not field a team and instead only have three players in order to get them more experience before the RMAC Championships next week.

BLACK HILLS STATE STORYLINES
• The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets are coming off one of their better performances of the season at the Hardrocker Spring Invite. The Yellow Jackets finished 5th as a team, but had three players reach the top ten in scoring on day two, and two finished in the top 10 for the tournament. The Yellow Jackets bounced back from a 367 (+83) on day one of the tournament to shoot 334 (+50) on day two, which combined to shoot 701 (+133) over the 36-hole tournament. They made 21 pars and two birdies in their last 21 holes of golf on Day 2.
• The Yellow Jackets have totaled four of the best single round scores in the program's DII history this fall, recording the best single round score in program history on day two of the Yellowjacket Fall Invite with a 320 (+32). They recorded the third-best score in round one of Swan Memorial with a 326 (+38), the fourth-best score in round two of the Swan Memorial with a 327 (+39), tying for the ninth best score in round two of the Marauder Golf Invite with a 334 (+46), and tying for the 11th-best score in round one of the Black Hills State Classic with a 337 (+49). Additionally, BHSU has notched the program's best DII mark for a 36-hole tournament with a score of 653 (+77) at the Swan Memorial.

Katie Jorgenson continues to be the top golfer in the Yellow Jacket team lineup. She finished second on the team and solo sixth at the Hardrocker Spring Invite last week. She started +10 through her first 12 holes before paring the last six to finish in the top six. She has posted a stroke average of 82.80 through 14 rounds this year and has notched a career-low round score in the first round of the Black Hills State Classic with a 79 (+7). Her career-best 36-hole score of 160 (+16) at this year's Swan Memorial continues to be tied for the seven-best in the school's DII record book. Additionally, she became the first Yellow Jacket to ever be named the RMAC Women's Golfer of the Week earlier this fall on September 26.

Olivia McCandless is the #2 in the lineup this week and she is coming off her best performance of her career last week at the HSO. She shot 84 (+13) on the first day and a career-low 80 (+9) on day two to finish in third place, which is her best finish of her career. She beat her career-low on 18 and her career-low on 36 with a 164 (+23) She has averaged a 89.1 stroke average this year through 12 rounds.

Leyni Stavola is coming off a solid performance at the Hardrocker, where she had an incredibly nice bounceback on day two, shooting an 84 (+13), which was top 10 in the tournament that day in order to move up six spots into a tie for 24th place. Through 14 rounds this fall season she has posted a stroke average of 88.1, to go along with a career-best round score of 81 (+9) and a 36-hole score of 166 (+22) that occurred in the Swan Memorial to begin the year.

Randy Doran is in his first year officially as the head coach for Black Hills State, after serving as interim head coach a year ago.
