MITCHELL, S.D.- With BHSU sending three golfers to Mitchell, the trio of
Katie Jorgenson,
Olivia McCandless, and
Leyni Stavola were able to post 36-hole scores above +25 in route to all finishing top 12 at the DWU Spring Golf Invite at Lakeview Golf Course as a last stop before the RMAC Championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•   All three golfers started on the back nine today
•  Â
Katie Jorgenson was unable to hold on to the one-shot lead she entered today with, but she was able to stay in the top two finishing in a tie for second after shooting an 85 (+13) today and shooting a 161 (+17) 36-holes score. She was unable to remake her career-low 76 (+4) yesterday, but the wind was a lot stronger today. Her sole birdie of the day came at the par three seventh hole and she shot a 42 on the front after shooting a 43 on the back. Jorgenson only finished second by three strokes. She missed out on her career-low 36-hole score by one stroke as she shot a 160 (+16) at the Swan Invitational. The 36-hole score in this tournament puts her one stroke outside the top ten in program history.
•   After shooting an 82 (+10) yesterday and sitting in a tie for ninth place, McCandless shot another 82 (+10) over today, keeping her in a tie for ninth with a 164 (+20), which is her best 36-hole score of her career. McCandless has now shot under 85 four rounds in a row. She had six pars during a 39 (+3) back-nine today, which was her best nine holes of the tournament. McCandless is entering great form heading into Boulder City next week.
•  Â
Leyni Stavola shot a career-low 79 (+7) yesterday, which put her in a tie for fourth. She finished today with an 87 (+15) and finished in a tie for 11th in the tournament. She still had a  solid 42 (+6) on the front nine with five pars, which made her a combined +8 on that side in the tournament. Even with the worse round today, she still finished tied for her best 36-hole score of her career with a 166 (+22)
