KEARNEY, NEB. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team dropped their first match of the 2025 season on Friday afternoon, falling in a 1-0 defensive battle to Nebraska-Kearney. With shots being limited to just 6-4 in favor of the Lopers, each team was held without a shot attempt in one half of play as BHSU was unable to get a shot off in the first and UNK was unable to attempt a shot in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- While Black Hills State was unable to post a shot attempt during the opening half, Rian Barthel was able to make three early saves, but the Nebraska-Kearney offense took advantage of six shot attempts and scored the contests lone goal in the 20th minute.
- The Yellow Jacket offense came to life in the early stages of the second half, with Ally Boysen posting three shot attempts and Lena Homan one in the first six minutes of play, in addition to receiving a corner kick opportunity.
- The Green & Gold held the Lopers without a shot attempt in the second half.
- Nebraska-Kearney held the advantage in shots (6-4), shots-on-goal (4-1), and corner kicks (2-1), while Black Hills State held the edge in saves (3-1).
