SHERIDAN, Wyo- The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets posted a 339 (+51) on round one of the Travis Roy Memorial Invite at the Powderhorn Golf Resort in Sheridan, Wyoming. They currently sit in tenth place after beating South Dakota Mines on day one. Shelbi Gardner once again led the way with a 79 (+7) to put the Yellow Jackets in a close rase with the Hardrockers going into the final round.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Shelbi Gardner is having an incredible start to the year as she shot a 79 (+7) on day one of the tournament. She currently sits in a tie for 22^nd place. Gardner shot a 38 (+2) on the back nine today to put herself in good position and she had 10 pars and a birdie on the day.
• Katie Jorgenson finished second on the team with an 85 (+13) with 42 and 43 on each nine. She had seven pars and a birdie on the day and currently sits in a tie for 42^nd.
• Makaela Swanson finished third on the team with an 87 (+15) with nine pars. She sits in a tie for 50^th after day one and had a stretch of six pars in seven holes on the round
• Leyni Stavola had a resilient round today. After starting +12 through the first five holes, she only shot four over the rest of the day including shooting a 37 (+1) on the back nine. She had two pars and three birdies on the back nine and had another three pars on the front nine to shoot a score of 88 (+16) and sit in a tie for 53^rd after day one.
