CROOKSTON, Minn. – In a well spread out offensive attack, the Black Hills State University women's soccer team concluded their first weekend of action with a 4-1 victory at Minnesota Crookston on Saturday afternoon. The contest marked the largest margin of victory for the program in a true road game at an NCAA Division II opponent for the Yellow Jackets, as the Green & Gold added a pair of late goals to push the contest out of reach. HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Black Hills State offense showed a strong attack early, it wasn't until the 45th minute that the Yellow Jackets scored their first goal of the season. The pressure of BHSU was able to force a UMC pass offline, and Audrey Sillanpaa beat the Golden Eagle to ball, then proceeded to out-run her to the net and put the ball past the diving goalkeeper into the bottom left corner for her first goal since 2023.
- The Green & Gold extended their advantage to 2-0 in the 61st minute as Aubri Roth was able to head the ball out of the air towards the net, where Peyton Hill was able to catch up to it and place her shot into the bottom left corner for her first collegiate goal.
- Minnesota Crookston was able to cut the Black Hills State lead in half shortly after in the 65th minute as Julia Finch took a short pass from Lillian Goehring after the throw in and posted a deep shot that one bounced into the net over the head of the Yellow Jacket goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
- BHSU put the match out of reach in the final minutes with a pair of goals. First another transfer, Ally Boysen also added her first collegiate goal, as she took in a pass from Ella Cornellius five yards out from the net and placed the ball into the back right corner. Then a few minutes later in the 89th minute, Roth was able to fire a pass ahead to Hill, who then found Cornellius on a cross pass in front of the net for her first career goal to make it a 4-1 contest.
- Black Hills State held the advantage in shots (20-7), shots-on-goal (10-3), and corner kicks (5-1), while Minnesota Crookston held the edge in saves (6-2).
