Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University
volleyball team defeated Mayville State 3-0 on Friday night to move
to 10-15 overall and 5-3 in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
The Yellow Jackets won the match by scores of 25-19, 25-17, and
25-23. Black Hills State was led by freshman Amy
O'Neill who racked up 16 kills on 26 attempts with only four
errors. Sophomore Kayla Drieling chipped in with eight kills
and a .412 hitting percentage.
“It was good to have our younger players step up and play
well tonight,” said head coach Jennifer Weitzel.
“Amy (O'Neill), Kylee (Lamb) and Kayla (Drieling) all
showed their ability to compete and perform at this
level.”
Black Hills State will return to action on October 16 at 3 p.m.
when the team will face Dakota State in Spearfish, S.D.
