Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University
volleyball team was defeated 3-2 by Dakota State in Spearfish, S.D.
on Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets took the first set 25-22 and then fell in the
second set 25-22. Black Hills State won the third set 25-19
and then fell 27-25 in the fourth set. The Yellow Jackets
could not overcome the Trojans in the deciding fifth set, falling
15-10.
Black Hills State had four players in double-digit kills.
Amy O'Neill led the team with 17 kills followed by her sister
Maggie O'Neill who had 16 kills. Kylee Lamb and Kayla
Drieling chipped in with 14 and 11 kills, respectively.
“We were very inconsistent,” said head coach
Jennifer Weitzel. “We will need to improve over these
last few weeks if we want to compete for conference
title.”
Black Hills State will return to action to take on Dickinson
State on October 22 at 7 p.m. in Spearfish, S.D.
