Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University
volleyball team fell to Dickinson State 3-1 on Friday night at the
Young Center in Spearfish, S.D.
The Yellow Jackets lost the first and second sets by a scores of
25-23 and 25-17 before rallying to win the third set 25-12.
Black Hills State rallied late in the fourth set from being down
21-23 to take the lead 24-23. The Yellow Jackets gave up the
final three points of the match to lose 26-24.
“We played a very good Dickinson State team down to the
wire,” said head coach Jennifer Weitzel. “It came
down to a few mental mistakes throughout the match. I'm
very proud of how our girls bounced back in game three to stay
alive.”
Black Hills State was led in kills by senior Maggie
O'Neill who finished the evening with 16. Senior Kalin
Engle also netted eight kills for the Yellow Jackets.
Freshman Tori Lounsbery pitched in with 24 assists.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday,
October 23, 2010 at the Young Center in Spearfish.
