HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following a pair of early corner kicks, Colorado Christian struck first as Breenalyn Shimabukuro sent a pass forward to Ava Dinverno, who then outran a pair of Yellow Jacket defenders and placed the ball into the top-left corner of the net to make it a 1-0 game in the 5th minute.
- After surrendering an early goal, Zoe Wiggall regrouped and made six saves the remaining 40 minutes of action in the opening half.
- The Cougars avoided danger in the 38th minute as the Yellow Jackets placed three shots on target, first a high arching shot by Leah Day was snagged out of the air after going towards the top-right corner, then 40 seconds later Day fired a low, line drive shot towards the bottom-left corner of the net that made Issy Taussig make a diving, allowing for for Aubri Roth to get a shot attempt off the ricochet that Taussig deflected back again.
- After only recording four shot attempts in the first half, the Green & Gold amped up the offensive pressure early in the second half as Peyton Hill recorded three shot attempts in the first 12 minutes, including a shot in the 56th minute that hit off the top woodwork after finding a crease through the defense to the right-post.
- BHSU saw a pair of shots on goal midway through the second half by Bria Sargent and Kayla Truong, but it wasn't until the 87th minute that they broke through and found the back of the net. Receiving a free kick as a result of a yellow card, Sargent fired a shot from roughly 30 yards out that hit down off the top woodwork and bounced into the net to even the game at one with just under four minutes left to play.
- Wiggall made her biggest save of the night in the 90th minute as CCU had one last chance with Gabbie Henkle firing a shot towards the left post, however, Wiggall was able to make the diving save and knock the ball away.
