Keira Thompson // Libero/DS // 5'4" // Lakewood, Colo. // Lakewood H.S.
Thompson enters BHSU as a redshirt freshman following a one-year break from playing the sport but brings to the program a strong prep resume. Thompson was a three-year starter and a three-year letter winner at Lakewood H.S. in Lakewood, Colorado under the coaching of Rachel Foley. Thompson followed up two solid seasons in her sophomore and junior years, where she had a combined 201 digs, a 82.4 serving percentage, and 38 aces in her first two years. Thompson then had a major breakout campaign in her senior year of 2023-24, where she led 5A in digs, and was fifth in the state of Colorado with 573. She was named First-Team All-Conference and was an All-State Honorable Mention her senior year. In her club career, she qualified for nationals once with her 15u team at Elevation VBC. She was most recently team captain for her 18u Core Values VBC team in 2024. The libero graduated with a 4.0 GPA at LHS in 2024 and is pursuing a Marketing degree at BHSU. Thompson is the daughter of Ian and Kristin Thompson. She is also the sibling of Morgan Thompson.
Coach Dubose's thoughts: "Having Keira decide to join our team is a real benefit to our program. She will add depth as a passer and defender but more importantly, she is the kind of person that people want to be around. Really looking forward to being in the gym with her."
