PRE-BHSU: One of two mid-year transfers for Black Hills State from RMAC foes, Craig joins the Yellow Jackets after spending two seasons at CSU Pueblo. While he did not see playing time for the ThunderWolves during his time with the program, he was a part of CSUP’s conference title in 2024 in which they went 9-0 in league play and advanced to the NCAA Division II Playoffs. While in Pueblo he earned recognition as a recipient of the 2023-24 D2ADA Academic Achievement Award and earned a spot on the 2023 RMAC Football All-Academic Honor Roll. Prior to attending CSU Pueblo, he played his prep career at Castle View High School under the guidance of head coach Todd Casebier. For the Sabercats he was a 3-year letterwinner, 2-year starter, and a 2-year team captain as a junior and senior. In 2020 and 2021 he led the team in sacks while posting 40+ tackles each year. His junior season he was recognized as second team all-state while as a senior he was an all-conference outside linebacker. Herschel is the son of Herchel Craig Jr., who played football at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Laura Campos. He also has three siblings, David, Rocco, and Malachi Craig.
