Black Hills State University Athletics

Al Decker purchased KDSJ Radio in Deadwood, S.D. in 1982. He proudly covered local sporting events until his retirement in 2019. Particularly, he covered sports for Black Hills State University from 1982 until 2013. He also conducted weekly interviews with BHSU coaches. The National Sportscaster and Sportswriter Association selected Al as the South Dakota Sportscaster of the Year in 2003, 2009, and 2018. A particular highlight for Decker was covering the Lady Jackets second place finish in the NAIA Women’s National Championship tournament in 1997.
