During her career at BHSU, Jylann (Solek-Barham) Ewer, Class of '92, lettered one year in basketball and claimed the "Hustler" award, but she truly excelled at track and field. Ewer competed in indoor track for two years, during which she was the District 12 champion in the long and triple jumps. She holds the BHSU indoor long jump record with an 18'3" jump, and also ranks in the all-time BHSU top 10 performances in the 55-meter hurdles, high jump and triple jump. She won individual SDIC championships in the long jump four times, triple jump four times, 100-meter hurdles, and high jump, and was a member of the winning 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays. In addition to the five school records she set and still holds in the 100-meter hurdles (14.7 sec.), long jump(19'1/4"), triple jump(37'8"), high jump (5'6"), and heptahlon (4,374), Ewer was a four-time All-American with her best performance at the national track meet, placing sixth in the long jump. She also holds the longest women's collegiate jump in the state in long jump. One of her most memorable performances was at the conference meet in 1992, where she competed in 10 events and placed in nine.
