Dennis Newell, Class of ’04 will be inducted for his accomplishments in cross country and track. Newell is known for:
· A 10-Time NAIA All-American (named three times in cross country - only male in BHSU history; two in indoor track in the 5k; three in outdoor track in the 10k; and two in the outdoor marathon)
· A 14-Time Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) All-Conference (named four times in cross country; three in indoor track in the 3k; two in indoor track in the mile; three in outdoor track in the 5k; and two in the outdoor steeplechase)
· Held six school records for the indoor 3k and 5k and for the outdoor 3k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon
· Two NAIA Team Runner- Up finishes in cross country (2000 and 2003) and three DAC team titles in cross country (2000, 2001, 2003)
· One NAIA Top-Four finish in indoor track and field (2002)
· Six DAC Individual Titles (two in cross country; three in indoor 3k; one in outdoor 5k) and two DAC records for the indoor 3k in 8:34.42 in 2002; and outdoor 5k in 14:50.74 in 2003
· National Champion Runner Up in 2002 junior year in cross country and 10,000 meters in 2003 junior year in outdoor track.
