Black Hills State University Athletics

was a quarterback for the Yellow Jackets from 1973 to 1976. In his first season, Murphy was ranked 16th nationally for passing yardage in the NAIA. He was also an outstanding golfer and a member of the 1974 BH team, which won both the District 12 and the SDIC championships. During his golfing career at BH, Murphy was a four-time District 12 medallist.
