Black Hills State University Athletics

coached wrestling, golf, football and baseball at Black Hills State University from 1965-1990. His 25-year wrestling dual record includes 187 wins, 157 losses and 6 ties. He also has four SDIC wrestling championships to his credit. Hughes was a NAIA Rookie Coach of the Year Award nominee in wrestling in 1965 and was the NAIA District 12 Coach of the Year in 1970. His 1982 golf team qualified for the nationals. Hughes was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1996.
